A groundbreaking workshop is set to launch a new Climate-Smart Livelihood Program in Tigray, funded by the Embassy of Ireland in Ethiopia. The initiative aims to address the pressing challenges of climate change and food insecurity in the region.
A Collaborative Effort This ambitious program is the result of a collaborative effort between four key partners:
- Tigray Bureau of Agriculture (TBoA)
- Tigray Agricultural Research Institute (TARI)
- Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission Adigrat Branch (ECC-SDCOAdB)
- World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)
Addressing Climate Change and Food Insecurity The program will focus on:
- Climate-Smart Agriculture: Implementing practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build resilience to climate change.
- Improved Livelihoods: Empowering smallholder farmers, particularly women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
- Enhanced Food Security: Increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring year-round food availability.
- Capacity Building: Training farmers and other stakeholders in climate-smart techniques and sustainable practices.
